Rebecca Brown, CFP ®

Rebecca ‘Speck’ Brown, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, is the Founder of Hawkwind Wealth Advisory, an independent wealth advisory firm built on the belief that financial advice should be thoughtful, intentional, and personal.

A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional with more than two decades of experience, Rebecca has dedicated her career to helping individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and creatives make confident financial decisions rooted in both purpose and discipline. She believes wealth is more than a financial outcome.  Wealth is a tool for creating opportunities, protecting what matters most, and living a life aligned with your values.

Rebecca began her career with an independent advisory firm outside Washington, D.C., before joining boutique asset manager Cramer Rosenthal McGlynn, where she partnered with individual and institutional investors and later led the firm's sustainable investing initiatives. She also serves as a consultant to Tobacco Free Portfolios, a global nonprofit advancing tobacco-free finance and responsible investment practices.

As the founder of Hawkwind, Rebecca is proud to be part of a growing generation of women leading the wealth management profession. Her leadership is grounded in thoughtful listening, intellectual curiosity, and the belief that the strongest advisory relationships are built through trust, empathy, and honest conversations. Clients value her ability to simplify complexity, ask meaningful questions, and provide clear, objective guidance without unnecessary jargon or sales pressure.

Rebecca holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification—the profession's highest standard for comprehensive financial planning—and successfully completed Level I of the CFA® Program. She earned her bachelor's degree in English from George Mason University, a background that continues to shape her ability to communicate complex financial concepts with clarity, perspective, and empathy.

Outside the office, Rebecca is an amateur boxer, lifelong music enthusiast, and former drummer in several touring rock bands. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and son and their Devon Rex cats. Those experiences have reinforced qualities she brings to her practice every day: resilience, discipline, creativity, and the confidence to challenge conventional thinking when it serves her clients' best interests.
